Position: School Nurse (RN)
Location: Le Mars, IA
Pay Rate: $44-$50 (based on experience)
Assignment Type: Temporary, with the possibility to extend based on student needs.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, approx. 7:20 am to 12:30 pm (through the end of the school year, with the opportunity to extend to full school days in August)
Job Overview:
This is a 1:1 nursing position providing personalized care for a student with specific medical needs in a school setting. You'll play a critical role in supporting the student's health, safety, and educational experience, ensuring their medical conditions are managed appropriately during school hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 care for a student with complex medical needs, including tracheostomy care and seizure monitoring.
- Manage daily medical care such as respiratory support (trach care), and ensure the student's health and safety throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with school staff to address the student’s health-related needs and ensure an optimal learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice or compact license.
- Trach care experience is required.
- Knowledge of or experience with neurological conditions such as Gray Matter Heterotopia (GMH) and Cerebellar Hypoplasia is preferred but not required.
- Seizure management experience is required.
- Pediatric nursing or school nursing experience is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to provide nursing support for a student with a trach, vocal cord paralysis, and a history of seizures.
